Our Fermat floor mill is the newest addition to our collection of boring mills. This machine features a full rotatory table as well as a 3D machining head that can cut around corners minimizing the number of setups needed for more complex parts. The machine is controlled by a Heidenhain i530 control that allows complex tool paths to be programmed right in the control and can rapid at over 450 inches a minute allowing it to get to the next operation or tool change quickly.

The Gray is our second largest boring mill at the shop. With regular maintenance and upgrades it still continues to compete with the newer machines. The Gray started out its life as a completely manual machine and was then retrofitted to be a CNC machine. The Gray is fitted with an i530 Heidenhain control which gives it the ability to do more complex tool paths with ease. With its massive travel, large motor and gearbox this machine continues to pull its own weight to this day.

Purchased in 2017, the Union boring mill was one of the first machines Lighting acquired with a programmable rotary table. Running a Heidenhain i530 control, that has been completely reprogrammed upon purchase, it has the ability to set up a part once and run the face, left and right sides all in one setup (depending on size) reducing setup time and material handling. In addition this machine also has programmable through spindle coolant to allow it to use more advanced tooling.

This Toshiba boring mill (nicknamed Blue) is equipped with a Heidenhain i530 control allowing for it to be completely controlled right at the machine without any need for programing software. Capable of spindle speeds up to 2000 RPM it makes quick work of smaller to medium size weldments. Tiny details and complex geometry are no match for this machine. Although the rotary table isn't programmable like some of the others, it still has the ability to be manually rotated so that it can cut multiple different working coordinates with only one setup needed. This saves time and allows for more cutting time and less handling time per part.

This Toshiba boring mill is equipped with an older i420 Heidenhain control which takes a little more knowledge to program but is still a workhorse that loves to take on large blocks of steel. Its long saddle travel makes it a perfect machine for gun drilling deep holes through large blocks with ease. After just recently having the ball screw that controls the X axis for this machine reground, it's running smoother than ever.

Our twin Fermat boring mills each features a 60 pot automatic tool changer, a 360 degree rotary table, through spindle coolant and a Heidenhain i530 control. We received these machines with the same cabin style control as our Fermat floor mill on them but we had installers come in and modify and remove the cabs so that these machines had a more open control platform allowing for an easier and more fluid setup environment.

The Ameraseiki bridge mill is the largest of our bridge mills. This machine has a 32 pot automatic tool changer, is controlled by a Fanuc control and boasts a 6000 rpm max spindle speed. This machine is capable of hogging tons of steel/aluminum off really quickly allowing it to make short work of complex plate designs. Laser calibrated and extremely accuracy this machine can cut a hole with .0005 accuracy every time. Fast rapid speeds also help this machine get to its next feature and start working quickly with less wasted time in the air.

The KHMT is the same bridge style machine as the Ameraseiki with a smaller footprint. This machine is primarily used to cut aluminum plates but can also fit smaller weldments and other unique materials. It is controlled by a Fanuc and has a max spindle speed of 6000 RPM allowing it to make small and detailed features stress free and accurately. With through spindle coolant and a 32 pot automatic tool changer this machine has the ability to use the most advanced tooling to create unique details and features.
